Keep in mind that this was all written just four days after Trump was elected

"Almost exactly four years later, on November 12th, 2016, Mr. Rykov explained what happened next in a pair of Facebook posts. In the first post, Rykov explained how he first made contact with Trump: [Trump] lifted his plane to the sky and flew between New York and DC, calling the whole world through his twitter — to start a march on Washington! Without a moment’s thought, I wrote him a reply, which sounded like this in Russian: “I’m ready. What should I do?” Suddenly! There was a thin squeak of warning in the DM. It was a message from Donald Trump. More precisely a picture. In the picture he was sitting in the armchair of his jet, smiling cheerfully and showing me the thumb of his right hand. In the second post, Rykov explained how things went from there: What was our idea with Donald Trump? For four years and two days .. it was necessary to get to everyone in the brain and grab all possible means of mass perception of reality. Ensure the victory of Donald in the election of the US President. Then create a political alliance between the United States, France, Russia (and a number of other states) and establish a new world order. Our idea was insane, but realizable. In order to understand everything for the beginning, it was necessary to “digitize” all possible types of modern man. Donald decided to invite for this task — the special scientific department of the “Cambridge University.” British scientists from Cambridge Analytica suggested making 5,000 existing human psychotypes — the “ideal image” of a possible Trump supporter. Then .. put this image back on all psychotypes and thus pick up a universal key to anyone and everyone. Then it was only necessary to upload this data to information flows and social networks. And we began to look for those who would have coped with this task better than others. At the very beginning of the brave and romantic [story] was not very much. A pair of hacker groups, civil journalists from WikiLeaks and political strategist Mikhail Kovalev. The next step was to develop a system for transferring tasks and information, so that no intelligence and NSA could burn it. Keep in mind that this was all written just four days after Trump was elected. It was before people started asking questions about Cambridge Analytica or targeted social media ads. Mr. Rykov might have been boasting as he spiked the football in the end zone, perhaps even elevating or exaggerating his role. What he didn’t think at that point, however, is that he had any reason to hide what he’d done."

“I’m not saying you’re lucky to be there

“I’m not saying you’re lucky to be there. I’m saying as long as you live there you are in opposition to the powers that rule the world. You are the opposite of money. You are against presidents, oil spills, slaughterhouses, Young Sheldon. You’re the opposite of the red button under Matt Lauer’s desk. You’re the opposite of the red button that ends it all. You have never been so hard in your own name. Nobody has you.”

Nothing against Toronto, but Collision belongs in New Orleans

Nothing against Toronto, but Collision belongs in New Orleans.
I still recall the evening that Paddy Cosgrave visited New Orleans after 2 years in Las Vegas. It was the simplest sale possible given that what Collision was looking for was exactly what New Orleans had and has to offer. The backdrop for a conference based on community matters and there are few places on the globe that provide a more appropriate setting.
Chris Schultz has led the charge with a number of other folks stepping up in a big way to make it all work. If it’s only about the dollars and cents then congrats Toronto…but if it’s about more than that, let’s step the fuck up and keep the cornerstone event that brings the tech industry to New Orleans thriving where it belongs!

Actually impressive
“President Donald Trump’s lead strategist and son-in-law failed to disclose more than 70 business assets on his security clearance form. He also omitted an assortment of debt totaling at least $1 billion, $300 million or more of which he is personally guaranteeing according to the Wall Street Journal.”

Andrew Sullivan on how Trump’s latest actions precisely follow the pathway Plato described for a how a corrupt late-stage democracy (then Rome, now the US) slides into tyranny:
“The real possibility of a nuclear conflict with North Korea is getting more real by the day (can you imagine Bolton’s counsel for the Kim Jong-un meeting?); and with Bolton in place, the groundwork for ending the Iran nuclear deal is also finally complete. And what’s noticeable in all this is the irrelevance of the Senate. They refuse to reclaim their treaty-making powers with respect to trade (they could end Trump’s China shenanigans overnight); they have abdicated any influence on foreign policy and war just as they have done nothing to protect the special counsel. They are just like the Roman Senate as the republic collapsed. The forms survive; there is nothing of substance behind them.”

A beacon

A beacon…for the global criminal class. The scale of this corruption is staggering
“Mr. Nader tempted the fund-raiser, Mr. Broidy, with the prospect of more than $1 billion in contracts for his private security company, Circinus, and he helped deliver deals worth more than $200 billion with the United Arab Emirates. He also flattered Mr. Broidy about “how well you handle Chairman,” a reference to Mr. Trump, and repeated to his well-connected friend that he told the effective rulers of both Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. about “the Pivotal Indispensable Magical Role you are playing to help them.””
